pay as you go phone farce!

Post by dario »

ok, so i had to get my self a temporary mobile telephone today, well i had an old telephone already which Carrie upgraded from a little 6230i nokia. nothing special, but a workhorse none the less!

a few weeks ago when i could see the writing on the proverbial wall i ordered free sim from Vodafone. its been sitting in a draw waiting for the day to come.

well it came yesterday with no notice when my employer decided to pull the plug on mine as they had set me on garden leave (long story).

So i had to get it registered which i thought would be easy peasy in this modern world......................... the hell it was. i was trying off and on from 10:00 this morning to having just completed the process successfully about 20 mins ago.

everything from websites that won't work (repeatedly) to the bloody credit card companies automatic checking machine asking me if all the purchases that i had made were for real. of course this caused me to stop the process of registering my credit card over the phone because i had given up with their website as it was dire!

anyway it only got resolved by a human in Scotland (least i think they were in Scotland, but possibly the call centres in the Indian subcontinent could have trained their staff to speak in a broad glaswegian accent to throw us queens english speaking types off the scent).

anyway used up about 4 hours in one day to sort out something simple .... my arse it was.

sill i got a few more days on this garden leave thingy to get through. :flower

Hi Dario, if you really want to get arsey with your previous 'employer' .... if your mobile phone was part of your T's n C's, then you should have use of it during your 'garden leave' providing of course that you have agreed to pay for personal use.

strange that you should say that, but the letter was written today including:-

The Company has already breached my contract of employment in this regard as at 4.52 pm on 10 November 2009, my mobile telephone was barred by the Company. As you are fully aware, I have the use of a Company mobile telephone for both business and private use. The Company's actions in barring my mobile telephone without my permission and without providing me with a replacement mobile phone, constitutes a breach of my contract of employment and I reserve all my rights in relation to this breach."

also they are trying to stop me speaking to friends and that has also met with a similar answer.

also they are trying to say that any accrued holiday will be deemed to have been taken through my garden leave. well thats wrong as well.

its happy days :book
