Rare BMW for sale: 1971 E9 2000 CSL

Post by pangster »

I read this story on another forum I'm a member of and thought I'd share it here:

I thought nothing of it when she first mentioned it, and she didnt think it was worth much, but then when I looked into it it turns out she could be sat on a goldmine:eek

So, its a BMW E9. Its a 2000 CSL and a 1971 registration she thinks.

I've seen a photo of it and its the same colour and things to this.... the wheels look the same too

Notice how the front and rear windows wind down and there is no door pillar?
Hers has 4 electric windows and even things like an electric ariel... not bad for a car of that age eh? EVERYTHING on it is electric apparently.

Now then, theres a total shed here for £2500...

And then theres a runner here for 28k!!!!

So.

The history of hers....
She bought it from somebody who collected classic cars, and it was completely original. She drove it for a few years and it never failed her.
Her husband died and she stopped driving it.
At first it stood for 6 years in a garage.
She then moved house and obv the car needed to be moved too.
After the first 6 years she had a new battery put in and it started!!! She then drove it to her new house. She then had fluids drained, wheels and steering loosened and it was then garaged once more. Its since stood for 20 years without ever seeing the light of day!

So thats pretty much 26 years its been stored for now, but it was driven 6 years into it.

Now then, body wise it looks okay from what I've seen, it doesnt look to of rotted away or anything, the chrome is still chrome and things.

Obviously I dont know if its a runner, and it hasnt been removed from the garage to take pictures of it as the car is probably all thats holding the garage up now. But the car DID run and WAS a minter when it was put in this garage 20 years ago.

Apparently its quite low mileage too.

So... Given what I've said so far...

Does anybody have ANY idea of what it could be worth???
/\ personally I love those old BMW's!
