BMW Z4 - computer reset
BMW Z4 - computer reset
I have a 2004 Z4 3.0. I recently had to replace the battery because the old one kept going flat and got to the point where it would no longer hold a charge. Since it last went flat, completely flat, there've been some weird things happening to the car. The airbag warning light has come on and stays on; the electric roof won't work; the aircon doesn't work; the heated rear window doesn't work; and the fan in the car will only run at a very slow speed. I'm guessing that there must be some sort of onboard computer that has got a bit confused and perhaps needs to be re-booted. How do you do it? I don't want to pay my dealer £100s of pounds to do it. Thanks.

have you checked you didn't blow any fuses?...SJV-Z4 wrote:I have a 2004 Z4 3.0. Re: BMW Z4 - computer reset
You say the "old battery kept going flat" - is your alternator charging properly?
Noting the problems you're having now, it sounds like there is a lack of power from the new battery - again, not getting charged?
I'm not a mechanic, so I maybe wrong

The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it.

The new battery is definitely charging OK. I'll have a look for the fuses to see if any are blown. It would be good if it was something as simple as that -but I doubt it.
