X5 fun!

Post by dario »

went to the gym today (shouldn't suprise some people on this board LOL) and noticed that the huge car park was all nice and snow/ice covered.

I am here to say that 2.5 tonnes of 4x4 slides along long way if you give it enough welly! And it don''t quite respond to steering, brake and throttle inputs like one might imagine it ought to :-)

still good fun though!

Based on the experience down the lane on sunday, I have just bought a set of winter wheels with new-ish summer tires for £100. Am going to put proper winter tyres on them and keep the summer tyres for spares for my other alloys.

How did yours behave down the hill? Mine was locked up with 4 wheels sliding down it with traffic coming the other way. I sure squeezed my buttocks at that trip :)

Interesting Paul - We were about 100 metres behind you and Russ in his Saab. Wondered what was holding us up.
Our 3 series in first gear didnt slide at all on that incline. I guess all that extra weight of the X5 makes it react with gravity.
