Is there anybody
Re: Is there anybody
New number plate required though as you have got a "proper" Porsche now
Nice car indeed, I am looking for a manual one though.

It is in the back of my mind that the model year 2013 Cayman R might be a great sports car.pvr wrote:New number plate required though as you have got a "proper" Porsche now

I guess the PDK V Manual argument will continue but it's very much personal preference as to which you enjoy more.
PDK is a lot quicker and more efficient that is not disputed. One thing I did notice was at 85mph my 911 was doing 43mpg!

Re: Is there anybody
I have an Abarth with a similar box, and even though it is great I miss the driving experience. Granted, the PDK is faster than manual but for me part of the joy is the actual gear change by hand.
What year is your 997?
I have been given "permission" for a 991 but been a bit concerned about the 90k price tag (and bugger all value in the M of course

Re: Is there anybody
Order a 991 you won't be disappointed.
PDK is my choice because for 95% of my driving, including track days, it is perfect. I do enjoy a manual on the right traffic free road like the one I found in North Wales.
My 997 is a year old, the guy who owned it lost a considerable amount of money doing just 2,000 miles. Unfortunately he was taken ill.

Re: Is there anybody
You see, that is a deal I might consider as well as the price difference is so much between a 1 year old 997 and a new 991.
Just that I am scared stiff about buying a car that might have been owned by DavidM's twin brother or so ...

Re: Is there anybody
The 991 is good but expensive and there are plenty of very tidy cherished 997s about.
Have loads of fun choosing.

Re: Is there anybody
A fair amount of 997 owners are struggling with the prices of the new 991
For the price of the new C2S a 997Turbo can be easily picked up.
I don't actually find the new car to be that interesting/pretty, however if the lines of the new 991Turbo is anything like the new Boxster then I'm excited.. I have a LOI on a 991TT
Otherwise if I don't go to the dark side then a Boxster could be on the cards

Re: Is there anybody
What do you do for warranty? The 991 has now 3 years and the 997 is still 2 I think.
With 5k a year on that car, perhaps I am worrying too much ...?
And how do you find that cherished model, hundreds from what looks like private traders on Pistonheads which I would not touch. Dealer only?

Re: Is there anybody
Whilst on the 991, it says 3 years warranty, it's actually 2 +1
Buying a used 997 from a dealer it comes with a 2 year extended warranty (1 +1 )
OPC is about 5-6K over private sales.. no brainer really (in overall terms) or have it put through a dealer 111inspection at the sellers cost.
I know mileage is a big thing for some, for me its not as it would mean it sat around for a long time, lots of owners is quite common and not something I'd worry about.
