A Z4 in the family?

Although I've currently deserted the BMW camp for a Merc, my son is maintaining the brand loyalty and has tasked the old man with finding him a nice Z4...
His budget is around £10 to 11K and surprisingly he prefers an automatic (traffic in Leeds is dire!) and is keen on a 3litre.
Although I'm pretty familiar with Z3 foibles, I'd appreciate any tips on things to look for or be wary of, on the Z4.
Also, if you know of any good cars up for sale, let me know.
Thanks in advance
Russ

That will get you a late 2003 for that money. Auto boxes generally are a bit cheaper as they are less desired.
Cars from that year had a couple of possible niggles:
- Petrol caps falling off
- window mechanism failing
- springs (rear) failing
General point: If a car has 108 style wheels, they WILL rust so ideally that type to be avoided (107 was the best).

Well, we've now got one!
2004 3l manual in Maldives Blue with just about every extra they did. Only done 38k and has full BMW service history.
I drove it back from Doncaster to Norwich and it went well (almost as good as my SLK!).
Surprised at the fuel economy - 35+mpg and I wasn't hanging about...
Seemed a bit twitchy though and liked to "tram line" on rough roads. Is this a characteristic of the run-flats?
Needs some cosmetic TLC and an oil service so will post some pics once I've given it a clean.

After a week of cleaning, polishing and servicing the car was collected this weekend.
As you can see, one very happy bunny!
Now all I have to do is sell his old one...
Anyone looking for a Lexus IS200?
