Winter tyres on the X5 transformed it from a useless 4x4 to a very, very capably 4x4. Managed to drive straight up pure ice roads in the ski resort where cars with snow tyres were struggling, the difference is night and day.

Would recommend it to anyone, so worth it.

It is fun to drive up the hill with the rear wheel drive Z4 with proper winter tyres in the snow, especially when the neighbors are stuck without proper tires in their 4x4 or front wheel drive cars.
The Z4 is no problem in winter weather if you get winter tires.

I'm on my 3rd winter now with winter tyres on the touring. The difference is utterly amazing! It is almost like having a 4wd when the snow is think on the ground. The only limiting factor now is ground clearance as opposed to grip and stability. The neighbours were stunned by my 'mobility' last year

I've got winter tyres on Marise's 325 and both of my kids have them on their BMs now. The Z will probably be at home so leaving it alone.
