Selling the 335d :-(

its been 2 great years with a capable and competent car!

what this car could not do is not worth mentioning, it would and could take on all comers, irrespective of what it was (ok just a little smoke blowing there). best time was the straight line sprint from 50mph to higher speeds with a Porsche GT3 RS. i think the driver could not have guessed that his £100k missile was going to humbled (well up to the speed that he was happy to go to) by this rep mobile. BTW i know he was trying by the noise his car was making and the squat nature of the suspension during the acceleration period, and it / we were going!!!

It has been on track a few times, its led some wings at our events and even done the ring (ring sticker on its boot lid).

155mph and 40mpg is one hell of a motor.

i have an early termination insurance policy which i am about to invoke to get me out of the agreement now that my employer has finally stated that they no longer require me to work in the business and stay on garden leave until 25th February 2010.

so no need of the car any more and i will have to use one of the others for once. best bit is that i will be able to use my Z4 instead of it languishing in the garage for months on end.

Good car the E92 335d, probably the best car i have owned or will ever own again.

Sorry to hear she's going

I think that the 335d sets the bench mark for a lot of 'performance cars'. It really does prove how little difference there is between a well setup road car and an out and out sports car.

Once the waiting list comes down I may change to a 335d touring (3-4 months waiting list at the moment )

News update

she goes back to provecta (lease hire company) on 23rd November.

today i took her to the body shop to have the front bumper replaced and repainted.

i managed to hook the underside of the bumper over a kerb at the Little chef at Popham (famous for being restyled by heston blumenthal) and didn't notice.... no noise going in to the bay and over the kerb edge, but the damage was done pulling out of the bay.

hopefully it will be done by thursday night as the inspector is coming to see the car to check if it is ok to be returned.

Gap insurance should over the shortfall of near £5k

As a fellow sparkling graphite E92 335d owner, I can fully understand your sense of loss Dario.

I have been looking round over the last few months for another car, as mine turns 3 years old at the end of December, and whilst I can find cars that better the 335d in single areas, there is nothing that I can afford that has the all round abilities of this car.

The only thing that will really make me change it now is the desire to get back to a 2 seater roadster. I have tried afew over the last few months, but that is a story for another thread.

Jim I could not agree more. Its a superb piece of road going rocketry.

great track car.

realistically its the best car i have owned / run

and that includes the Z4, X5, E211 mercedes, 5 series BMW, audi A4, BMW 730iase, Cirtoen BX 1.9TDTR, Renault Megane Senic, it goes on.

I resisted the temptation to chip it as it was fast enough.
