Gym membership

Post by pvr »

As I had been struggling for a few months with health, I decided that rather then spend £500 on a specialist visit (excess health insurance), I would use that money for "self cure" via a healthy gym membership.

Been going for 2 weeks now, 4 times a week and each time an hour. You know the type, cycling, cross country, machines etc.

Anyway, thought it was about time for a proper fitness session with an instructor making my personal plan for the next 6 weeks or so. No problems so I thought as I had been ok for the last 2 weeks doing the things myself.

Ok ... so the fitness instructor was a girl of about 20, you know the type - terribly fit and all excersised.

She demos the machines that I am supposed to be using to get my god-like body, but with weights set at 5 kg or so. Then yanks it up to 35 kg or so and it is my turn. Do 12 of those. Ok, up to 8 is all fine and I am happily doing all of this of course, but by the time I get to 10 I am almost crying and 12 is complete torture. Especially whilst keeping a straight, relaxed face of course whilst ensuring that the stomach flab is never relaxed of course.

An hour later the torture was all over and my program has now been set. Currently, I am typing this of course with my nose as my arms can not be raised above the keyboard anymore.

I think I would have been better with one of those blokes at the gym as I would have thrown in the towel a lot earlier of course

She said she was impressed with my level of fitness considering I was not doing any excersise before I started two weeks ago. I think she meant she was impressed that I did not die on the machines ...

wow that made me laugh PVR

I joined a Fitness First Gym the other day. i have been going up to 5 times a week and i do about an hour a day on all of those machines and torture apparatuses!

after an hour of cross country trainer and weights and cycling etc (don't like the rower!) its off to the sauna, steam room and pool.

funny what you can do when you have some time on your hands :reindeer

PS i cant hold on to the swinging handles of the X country trainer i have to hold the static handles.

keep it up PVR

Yes, rower is out for me as well - horrible machine. After she put the running machine on what felt like 50 mph, I felt my breakfast coming back up as well.

Who in their right mind does all of this for fun???

At least if I get fit within 3 months, I get a month free membership. You don't tell a Dutchman that one twice !!

@sausage - no cameras allowed it says so on signs ...

Hi PVR. I would be interested to hear what sort of lighting your gym is using. Since going to the gym Dario appears to be gaining a tan and he tells me it is a side effect of the lighting in the building :scratch

Carrie, have you seen the film "Christmas with the Kranks"? now that's what I call getting a tan at the gym.
